Ward Anthony Brooks, Sr., 64, was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was affectionately known as “Tony Bop,” because of how he loved to bounce on his feet when talking. He was the son of the late Jesse and Lucretia (Clifford) Brooks and resided in Clairton, Pennsylvania. Ward departed this life on April 6, 2021, at Jefferson Hospital. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Crystal Gaye Brooks.
Ward attended First A.M.E Church of Clairton, went to Shaw Avenue Elementary, and graduated from Clairton High School, the Class of 1974. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country for 16 years with a tour of duty in Germany. After the service, he worked in the security industry, was a Mason, roofer, sanitation worker and he worked for Ed & Eddie Landscaping Co. Tony was a jack of all trades and a very likable guy who loved to dress.
Tony loved soul music and was an avid fan of the Steelers. He watched soap operas with his Mom as they ate their favorite snacks. He loved to talk about the bible, especially when he read something that he wanted to know more about; always ready to learn all he could.
Tony leaves to cherish his memories seven children: Ward Brooks, Jr. of Pittsburgh, Andrea Coward of Atlanta, Georgia, Dominique Brooks of Dallas, Texas, Andre Brooks of Louisville, Kentucky, Antonio Brooks, Aleysia Brooks, Adam Brooks, all of McKeesport; six siblings, Roy Lee Hamlin, Jr., Joann Nadine Blackwell both of Clairton, Jesse Lee (Patricia) Brooks, Jr. of McKeesport, Linda Teresa (Anthony) Hudson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Derek Stephen (Katie) Brooks of Bronx, NY, Craig Alan (Victoria) Brooks, Sr. of Pittsburgh; host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
