Obituary

Virginia Leona Mullen was the youngest child and daughter of the late Willie Ogletree and Ethel Mae Dumas Ogletree.  She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Mullen, son, Leonard Mullen Jr., brothers William and Carl Ogletree.  She is survived by her sister Jeanette Ogletree Simmons (Alexander Simmons deceased) of Clairton, PA, sister-in-law Dorothy Mullen (Lawrence Mullen deceased) of North Versailles, brother-in-law Larry Mullen (Marie Mullen deceased) of Las Vegas, NV, and children; Sharon Mullen Darden of Lawrenceville, GA (George Darden), Davlin Mullen of Clairton, PA, Gary Mullen (Carmon Williams Mullen) of Rex, GA, and Keith Mullen of Liberty Township, OH.  Additionally, she leaves to cherish her memory, fifteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, whom she considered family.

Affectionately known as Ms. Honey or Honey, Leona was born in Donora, PA, lived in Buffalo, NY; Columbus, GA, Fort Benning, GA, and Lawrenceville, GA, where she transitioned.

She was a loving and proud doting mother, grandmother, and surrogate mom to many.  Leona, an avid spectator sports enthusiast could be found watching games every week.  Her favorite team of course was the Clairton Bears.  She was a member of the Clairton Bear Boosters and when she could attend, traveled to many of their games. Leona was involved in many community ‘get out to vote’ efforts.  She enjoyed cooking, going to plays, and telling stories with a great sense of humor and quick wit.

As a faithful member and supporter of Morning Star Baptist Church, Leona could be found worshipping and praising her Savior until her health would not permit her to attend.  Her final words as she left this earth was Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!
