Virgil L. Robinson, 97, of McKeesport departed this life peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023. Virgil was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on January 5, 1926. Son of the late Reverend Virgil L. Robinson, Sr., and Estella Sowell Robinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents Estella and Reverend Virgil Robinson Sr., wife Carrie Cabil Robinson, son, Mel Robinson, daughter, Minnie Robinson, sisters, Sally Robinson, Ella Robinson-Smith, Gladys Robinson, and Minnie Robinson, great-grandson, L. J. Jamison, III.
Virgil’s life and legacy will be forever cherished by his children: daughters, Carrie Robinson, Darlene Robinson-Jackson, Elaine Azeem (Teddy) and son, Virgil L. Robinson, Jr. all of McKeesport; grandson Tim Robinson; niece, Zina (Alex) Abrams, who took care of him when needed; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Virgil, also known as “Cool Virg” worked in the Steel Mill for many years before its closing. He was the longest-living survivor of Harrison Village. He enjoyed walking, and dancing and loved being surrounded by his family and friends.
