Sanford Lee Hurt, 91, was born and raised in Clairton, Pennsylvania. He entered this world on September 17, 1930. He was the beloved son of Robert and Sally (Johnson) Hurt-Belland.

Sanford attended Clairton High School. After graduation, he enlisted into the United States Air Force. Sanford worked as  for USS Steel Clairton for many years. He married Barbara Allen and to this union six children were born, and one died at childbirth.

Sanford was a huge sports fan. He loved baseball. Sanford also enjoyed traveling around to play in Pinochle tournaments. Sanford was a very social, fun and loving person who would talk to anyone. 

Sanford departed this life on February 24, 2022, at AHN Jefferson Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Guy Hurt, grandsons, Brandon Hurt, Maurice Hurt, Tauvea Hurt, brothers, Robert Hurt, Jr., Toby Hurt, and sister, Doris (Hurt) Lighter.  

Sanford is survived by his loving spouse of 71 years, Barbara; children, Cornell Hurt, Isola Hurt, Kevin (Cheryl) Hurt, Deron (Tiffany) Hurt, all of Clairton, PA; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
