Today we come to celebrate the life of a Reverend, Husband, Father, Son, Brother, and Friend. Reverend Harold Eunice Jefferson, Jr. (Chipp) was born on August 21, 1953 in Homestead, PA. He was the son of the late Deacon Harold and Reverend Callie Jefferson, Sr. He departed this temporal life, on July 12, 2025, to receive his crown and robe in our Heavenly Fathers Kingdom.
Harold, as a child, was given the nickname Chipper by his grandmother. She stated, "he was a chip off the old block." Chipp hated it because the monkeys on the TV always had that name, so he shortened it to Chip, and added an extra "P" being fancy. That’s how he got the name Chipp (with two p's).
Chipp was baptized at a young age. He was ordained a Deacon, and licensed to preach at 1st Baptist Church of West Mifflin. Chipp was ordained a Minister at Bethlehem Baptist Church in McKeesport, where he remained. He served as the assistant Minister of Music. He loved to worship and he loved Jesus Christ more than anything, and anyone on Earth. He could always be found, every Sunday, playing the organ and singing along with the choir. He loved his church family.
Chipp retired as a correctional officer, at the Allegheny County Jail, where he ministered to young men. The inmates loved and respected him, and gave him the nickname "Karate Chop Chipp." Chipp studied Martial Arts. He could break bricks with his hand, and flip over many objects, including cars. He loved motorcycles, once riding to California to deliver his music to a record label. Chipp had many loves, his first being music. He was blessed with a family of worshippers. His mom was a Vocalist, and his dad was a Musician. Chipp couldn't read a music note but he played many instruments by ear. Chipp shared his talent through his band, CD's, and church. He had a passion for going to the gym; loved it so much, he made them part of the family also. In his spare time, he enjoyed restoring cars, and riding motorcycles, but the good LORD had other plans.
The LORD blessed Chipp with a legacy of “muscles,” he will be remembered by his children, Beatrice Jefferson, Omar Greene, Gershard Jefferson, Montell Williamson, and Isaiah Jefferson; 19 grandchildren; he was cared for and loved by his fiancée, Deborah Watson; former wife of 26 years, Kimberly Jefferson; his only sister, Elizabeth Harrison; stepchildren, step grandchildren, extended family and friends.
