Philip Corey Linnen Obituary

Philip Corey Linnen was born February 11, 1963, in McKeesport Hospital, McKeesport, PA. He was the beloved son and the last born of ten children to the late Walter Linnen and Margaret Fields Linnen.

Hoss, as he was affectionately known, graduated in 1981, from Clairton High School, where he pursued vocational training and participated in the Clairton High School marching band. He then attended Vale Technical Institute where he became a Certified Auto Inspection Mechanic for the Commonwealth of PA. He also received certifications from OSHA in General Industry Safety and Health, along with Mobile Air Conditioning Society Worldwide in CFC-12 Air Conditioning Refrigerant Recycling.

Hoss loved working on cars and was a handyman who would do anything from yard work to long-distance driving until he became disabled. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Clairton Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers football teams. He enjoyed watching westerns on tv and he also loved to cook, especially holiday meals.

On October 1, 2000, Hoss joined Morning Star Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend Canard S. Grigsby, Jr. Following his love to sing, he joined the MSBC Male Chorus sharing his baritone voice.   Sharing his other gifts from God, Hoss served on the Transportation and Men of Valor Usher Ministries.

Hoss departed this life peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at 160 Spruce Street in Clairton, PA. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Dajanai Crenshaw; sister, Jennifer Renee Williams; brothers, Walter Edmond, Robert Jeffrey Sr, Anton Gerard, Kevin Wayne, Jerry Darnell, Marlon Del, and special brother/nephew, Robert Jeffrey Jr.

Hoss will forever be remembered and loved by his daughter, Shatera Linnen of Pittsburgh, PA; sisters Charlene (Alexander) Simmons of Myrtle Beach, SC and Lynda Linnen of Clairton, PA; grandchildren, Daijon Jordan-Beckett, Brandon Thomas, Nevaeh Thomas and Ny'Asia Thomas of Pittsburgh, PA; host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
