Patricia Pitts-Scott

June 15, 1947 ~ July 6, 2022 (age 75)

Obituary

Patricia Pitts-Scott (fondly known as Patty), age 75, was born June 15th 1947 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was one of twelve children born to Haywood and Sarah (Bloss) Pitts.

As a child, she was known for being the life of the party, unintentionally funny, and having a dislike for any and all vegetables. All of which never changed once she became an adult.

She graduated from Duquesne High School in 1965 and went on to attend Connelley Technical Institute in Pittsburgh, PA where she received her Licensed Practical Nurse degree. She used her degree to get a job as an LPN at UPMC McKeesport where she worked for 49 years. It was during her time at UPMC that she met her husband, Wendell Scott, whom she was married to until his passing in 2009.

Patty was known for her zest for life. If she didn't do anything else, she was going to make everyone remember her, and bring laughter to everyone she met. One of her biggest passions was food. Anyone who knows her remembers her big "pocketbook" that she would take with her everywhere that was filled with different types of chips, and so much candy you would think she was Willy Wonka. She also loved to make candy apples for the neighborhood kids when her daughter, Roxy, was a child. She enjoyed bingo, going to the casino, traveling, swimming, skating, and amusement park rides. During holidays and summers, she loved to spend time with her daughter's family in New Jersey.

Her bubbly personality and vibrance even extended into her work life. Patients often requested that she be their personal nurse during their hospital stay. In 2006, UPMC Mckeesport awarded Patty with the ACES Award for Commitment and Excellence in Service. Her energy and contagious laugh brought joy to everyone that crossed her path and her hugs could make the darkest day feel sunny. Patty decided to retire in 2011 and dedicated the rest of her life to truly making the most of life. That meant waking up at 12pm everyday, watching all of her shows, going on multiple vacations and casino trips, treating herself to monthly nail salon appointments, wearing colorful outfits, and spending lots of time with her family. She thoroughly enjoyed her retirement and often told her friends and family "if I die today, I've lived a good life.”

Patty departed this life on July 6th, 2022 in Voorhees, NJ. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Wendell Scott, her father Haywood Pitts, mother Sarah Pitts, four sisters Elizabeth Pitts (Dudley) Crandall, Marie (Luther) Simmons, Pearl Pitts, and Willa (Phil) Moravian, along with five brothers, Heyward Pitts Jr., John Pitts, Merle Pitts, Lawrence Pitts, and Clifton Pitts.

Patricia's legacy lives on in her daughter Roxyanne (Roddrick) DeGuzman, her three grandchildren, Apria, Tiara and Kyle, two sisters Sylvia Pitts and Stephanie (James) Carter (nee Pitts); sisters-in-law Barbara (Cliff) Pitts, Jeannie (Ollie) Pitts, Delores (Merle) Pitts, Shareonie (Lawrence) Pitts, step-daughter Cynthia Scott, step-son Wendell Scott Jr., brother in law John Earl (Chaneta) Scott, Randolph (Valerie) Scott, along with a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and many, many friends.
