Melanie Hope Croom, 49, daughter of the late Milton and Vera Croom was born on October 14, 1970, in Pittsburgh, PA. She was a former member of Morning Star Baptist Church, Clairton PA until she relocated to Helena, AL with her family. While there, Melanie joined Liberty Faith Christian Church, Bessemer, AL where she served in the doorkeeper, banner and mime ministries.
Melanie enjoyed bowling, basketball, and going to the Prom while attending the Exceptional Foundation in Homewood, AL, where she was affectionately known as CROOMIE, until she passed away peacefully in her home on April 4, 2020. She also loved going to the beach, Kennywood park and developed a love for butterflies.
Melanie loved God and enjoyed reading her bible and was quick to pray for you if you said that you didn’t feel well. She enjoyed her latter years with her best friend(niece) Tabitha and enjoyed making cookies with her niece Chardone’.
Mel had a lot of love for people. When calling to her, she would oftentimes respond YES SWEETIE or YES SWEETHEART, terms of endearment that her family and friends will always remember.
She was also proceeded in death by her sister Barbara A Barber, and brother, Ronald E Thomas. She is survived by her sisters, Pamela Croom (Theodore) Noble of Helena, AL, Karla (Reggie) Ward of San Antonio, TX, Trina Croom, Mildred Matthews of Birmingham, Al, Emma (James) Jones of Philadelphia, MS; brother, Chester (Deborah) Harrison, III of Elizabeth, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends whom she loved and cherished.
