Mattie Carnetta Davis-Adams, 90 of Clairton, Pennsylvania, was born September 10, 1934, in Bristol, Virginia. She was the beloved second daughter of four children born to the late William Davis and Carnetta Harper Davis. Mattie graduated from Edward W. Bok Technical High School and was employed at the University of Pennsylvania as a lab technician.
Mattie sang beautifully and recorded with the legendary gospel singer Rosie Wallace’s First Church of Love, Faith, and Deliverance Choir. She was a woman of prayer and wisdom; a true Titus 2 woman, she counseled many younger women. Mattie was a faithful member of Trinity Church of God in Christ, where she was an Evangelist. She became a Church Mother at Kingdom Come Ministries, where she attended until her health declined. She was called home to her eternal reward on Tuesday, November 5, at the Baldwin Health Center in Pittsburgh, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Robert B. Adams, Jr., parents: father, William Davis, mother, Carnetta Harper Davis, sisters, Marie Burroughs, Delores Davis, and brother, Marshall Davis.
Mattie leaves her beloved children behind to cherish her memory: son, Paul (Kathy) Adams of Verona, PA; three daughters, Pamela Reeves of Columbus, OH, Teresa Nesbit-Sutton (Chester) of McKeesport, PA, and Lydia Adams of Clairton, PA; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and thirteen great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and family and friends.
