Mary Ella (Pryor) Fagan Obituary

Mary Ella Pryor Fagan, 84, of McKeesport, PA, was born on February 2, 1942.The beloved daughter of William T. Pryor and Pearl Thomas Pryor.

Mary graduated from McKeesport High School. After graduating, she worked for Cox’s Department Store in McKeesport. During this time, she got married and started her family. She was later employed at Peoples Gas in the Accounting Department. During her time there, she attended CCAC and later attended Carlow University. In 1995, after 25 years of service, she retired.

Mary was a member of Zion Baptist Church during this time, she was raising her young family and credits her sister Brenda for leading her to Christ. She most recently returned to Zion. She always said Jesus is her closest friend. Mary was a former member of the Rainbow Assembly of God and Bethlehem Baptist Church. While at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Mary was a Trustee and Missionary. Her passion was singing praises to the Lord in the choir. She led her two daughters to Jesus Christ when they were young. Her high regard for God’s word (the Bible) was always apparent. She made sure to read scriptures daily and enjoyed the preached word. She would boldly tell you of her faith; she loved Jesus!

Mary always liked to put her mind to good use. She loved reading, whodunnit shows, British mysteries, Perry Mason, solving crossword puzzles, and Wheel of Fortune. That good mind also contained a sharp wit. She was funny and loved to make people laugh. She liked being active and had a weekly exercise routine until the last few years. A passionate bowler, Mary was in several leagues throughout her life. She was a HUGE sports fan and wouldn’t miss college football season (Bama was her favorite team) and, of course, could be heard screaming at the TV when the Steelers played. She would often say, “I had to change the channel, my blood pressure can’t take it!”

She never met a stranger and would engage anyone in conversation. Never shy to voice her opinions, she always said exactly what she thought. What you saw was what you got, and she expected the same. Honesty and integrity were high values of hers, as were her relationships. She loved her family and friends, but she adored her grandson, Austin. She used her life to bless others and was always willing to serve.

Mary departed this life on February 25, 2026, at her home in McKeesport, PA. She is preceded in death by her parents, William T. and Pearl Thomas Pryor, grandson, Austin Taylor Fagan, and sister, Brenda Pryor. She leaves behind her two daughters, Danean Fagan and Danielle Fagan; siblings William (Billy) Pryor and Sandra Pryor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
