Lessie Jamison Obituary

Lessie Jamison was born December 24, 1944, to the late John and Mary Glascoe she was preceded in death by her oldest son Raymond Jamison, great-grandson Lamont Jamison III, Brothers Joe and David Johnson John Glascoe Jr, and Arthur Glascoe.

Lessie attended Clairton High School. One of her fondest memories was of growing up on a one-way in-and-out street called Lincoln Way. She would say that if you lived in Lincoln Way every family was related somehow and every family knew each other. Lessie loved her children and boasted about having 9 grandkids and 5 great-grands who held special parts of her heart. She remembered everyone's birthday and would call them to wish them a Happy Birthday. She loved all of her family, those who lived near and far. If you knew Mom you know that she was very soft-spoken unless you got under her skin, she was a jazzy dresser she took pride in making sure that everything matched and that she looked good, she loved to play and cheat at cards she was competitive in her own way and would laugh and brag when she won but would tell you to shut up when you bragged after beating her.

Mom loved the Lord. She was an active member of Mt Olive First Baptist Church in Clairton Pa she was baptized and received the Lord as her personal savior on May 8, 1951, by the late Rev. King, mom sang in the choir and was on the usher board at Mt Olive Baptist Church, she loved to travel with her friend Ms. Joann and other members of the church, to visit neighboring churches to hear the word of God.

However, due to health challenges, she was unable to attend church in person but thanks be to God she could watch service every Sunday online and last week she typed praying hands, in pray for me. Last Friday when Chaplin came to give her communion and to pray and sing hymns with her, she clapped her hands and sang along with him. That speaks volumes about her love and walk with the Lord.

If You are wondering why she has a smile on her face she requested to have a smile on her face because she is at peace and she lived a happy life. She wanted a joyful celebration so we're here to celebrate her life. She didn't want any sad songs but for people to clap their hands and praise the Lord. The Bible says "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" and I trust that she is resting with the Lord.

Lessie leaves to mourn her children Lamont Jamison (McKeesport PA) Denise Jamison (Orlando Florida) and Arthur "Shunkin" Jamison (Magalie) (Glendale Heights IL) (Grandchildren Deryn Hamley (Matt),LaQula, Raynalle, Jalen, Arron, Lamont Jr, Jade, David,& Walter and 5 great-grandchildren, her only Sister Sandra Grant, God son Tywon Mosby special friends Tyrol Mitchell Joann Slater, neighbor John Tingle and daughter in law Tammy Jamison along with a host of nieces nephews cousins and friends.
