On Thursday, March 4, 2021, Leroy Jamison, passed peacefully and quietly at home with wife, daughters and granddaughters by his side. Leroy, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, was a man of tremendous strength and courage.
Leroy Jamison was born on November 15, 1941 in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Leroy was the eldest and beloved son of the late Pearleen (Bristow) Jamison. He graduated from Clairton High School in 1959, and soon after enlisted in the United States Air Force. While serving his country, LeRoy completed tours in Gaum, Bermuda and Ankara, Turkey, where his twin daughters were born. Leroy retired as a MSGT from the United States Air Force after serving 20 years.
He obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics/Business Administration from Park College in 1974. Leroy continued his education by pursuing a Master of Science degree in Public Administration from the University of Pittsburgh in 1977. After retiring from the military, Leroy began a career with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in Harrisburg, PA. He retired as the Director of Equal Opportunity after 15 years. In addition to his career history, Leroy was employed by Great Lakes Behavioral, through Allegheny County Department of Human Services as a Human Resources Manager.
Leroy was an avid Golfer. He and his wife LaDora enjoyed traveling and spending many, many hours at various Casinos.
Leroy married the love of his life, LaDora Ruth Bell on January 11th, 1969. To this union twin daughters, Marisa Denise and Michelle Denette were born on November 1st, 1969 in Turkey, while Leroy was serving his country overseas. After returning to the States, the family resided briefly in Dover, Delaware, Columbus, Ohio, and finally settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He loved his family. One of the best surprises his grandchildren loved was coming over on holidays to his delicious banana pudding.
Leroy was preceded in death by his loving mother, Mrs. Pearleen Jamison, (daughter) Linda Mitchell, (son) Terry Lee Pickett, and (sister), Juella Judy Jamison.
Leroy leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 52 years LaDora, twin daughters, Marisa Jamison, Michelle Jamison; four grandchildren, Latese Mitchell, (twins) Brandi Sparrow, Bria Sparrow and Noah Jamison; two great-grandchildren, Tionna Mitchell and Tachae Mitchell; three brothers, Hercules Jamison, Michael (Brenda) Jamison, Kennan Jamison all of Clairton, PA; three sisters, Rose Detwiler, Barbara Westbrooks and Mary Hicks, all of Clairton, PA; host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
