June Thomas Obituary

June E. Rushin Thomas, 84 of Clairton, PA, was born June 5, 1941, in McKeesport, PA. She was the beloved daughter of Perry Rushin and Sara Pearl Davis Rushin.

June attended school and graduated from Downingham High School in Philadelphia, PA. June worked for the Texas Welfare Department for over 30 years. After retirement, she moved back to Pennsylvania and settled in Clairton. While her late husband, Arthur Earl Thomas, was in the United States Army, they traveled often, something June enjoyed.

June and her family were members of Morning Star Baptist Church. Her children fondly remember attending at an early age. “Precious Lord” was her favorite song.

In her spare time, she loved to read, enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, and dancing. She also liked watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. And let us not forget, she loved to play the PA lottery, and she was a Winner! June made friends wherever she went, Dr. appointments, grocery store, etc. After meeting you, she would give you a nickname, and when she saw you again, she would call you by that name, and if she had an issue with that person, she would tell Emily where her bail money was located. She was a very generous woman; she would fill backpacks with hygiene products, snacks, and money and give them to the homeless in the community. She also gave donations to children’s charities monthly.

June was married to Arthur Earl Thomas for 49 years, until his death on February 12, 2023.

June departed this life on April 11, 2026, at AHN Jefferson Hospital in Jefferson Hills, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Earl Thomas; parents, Perry Rushin and Sara Pearl Davis Rushin; sons, Marlan Williams and Brandon Thomas; and grandson, Tawoin Williams.

June is survived by her beloved 2 daughters, Scharla Mullen, and Terricita (Donald) Williams, both of West Mifflin, PA; 1 granddaughter, 5 grandsons, 6 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-love, Peggy Spann, of Houston, TX; extended family and friends.

Our family would like to acknowledge all those for their continual support on behalf of our dear mother. Thanks to her caretaker, food deliveries, transporter, visitors, and any act of kindness shown to her. Emily Degournette, Renee Coleman, Alicia (Penny) Knight, Hazel Thompson, Regina McKenzie, Marc Peters, Twila Owens, Miriam Maletta, and many others.
