James William Carter, Sr., was born on June 25, 1942, in Troy, Virginia. He resided in McKeesport, PA until he was called home to be with the Lord. During his younger years, you could find him on the softball field or under the hood of a car. He loved to hunt and was an avid fisherman. He retired from Westinghouse Airbrake and was a hard worker. His family meant the world to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Bernard White and Viola (Philip) Carter. His loving and dedicated companion Darlene “Dot” Fennell, his sisters Violetta Carter, Joanne Creasy, Geraldine Jackson; brothers Henry J. Carter, Sr., Theodore Carter, Sterling Rawlings, and best friend/brother, James Cowans.
James leaves to cherish his memories, his loving daughters, Sherry Vaughn of Pittsburgh, PA, Marisa Fennell of McKeesport, PA; sons, Prescott Hearns of Troy, VA, James (Stacey) Carter, Jr., Michael Carter, Sterling Lawrence all of McKeesport, PA; his grandchildren, James, Mark Anthony, Jamera, Evander, Monique, Sharell, Roman, Harrison, Arshaya, Me'khi, Tyzhaun, Arianna;13 great-grandchildren his siblings, Helen Brown of Cleveland, OH, Barbara Pendleton of Keswick, VA, Teresa (Odell) Carter of Louis, VA, Abigail (Orlando) Martin of Troy, VA, Eric White of Pittsburgh, PA, Philip (Joanna) Carter of Brandywine, MD, Clifford (Julia) Carter of Palmyra, VA, Michael, Thomas, Stanley and Cornelius Carter all of Troy, VA; host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
