James Arthur ("Snookie") Allen, Sr. Obituary

James Arthur Allen, Sr., 84, was born June 11th, 1940 in McKeesport, PA. He was the eldest son of the late Bernum and Jean (Lloyd) Allen. James was the 4th oldest of 13 children.

He attended school in McKeesport and during his high school years, he met the love of his life Wilma (Mae). Soon after he enlisted in the Army at the age of 17 and was deployed to Germany but quickly returned to marry Wilma a day after her 18th birthday.

Upon returning home he worked hard to support his family doing numerous jobs including welding, construction, and mechanic work. Whatever job that needed to be done “Snookie” was the man to call as he was a jack of all trades.

During his free time, he enjoyed playing cards, watching sports as well as playing softball. He was also a member of a local bowling league.

As the eldest brother in the family, he was their rock and he enjoyed supporting his friends and family in whatever way he could. As a longtime resident of McKeesport James was well respected in the community and known for his charismatic personality and kind heart. Although some had learned that he could become a papa bear if needed.

In James' later years, he enjoyed telling stories and passing on his wisdom to those who would listen as he hoped to make an impact in their lives.
