Gloria Jean Mervis, 74, of McKeesport, PA, was born January 29, 1951, in McKeesport, PA. She was the sweet daughter of Joseph John and Emma Mae Kennedy Gesmond.

Gloria lived a happy and adventurous life with her husband, Paul. They always traveled and lived in different states throughout the years.

Once Angel came, she was a devoted mother, and they settled back in Pennsylvania close to family. Gloria was a wonderful mother and, believe it or not, an even better grandma. She was dedicated to helping all the kids. She lit up every room she walked into. If you knew her, you loved her. She was always funny and one of the best animated storytellers around.

She beat stage four liver cancer a few years back. Her strength was admirable for such a little lady. She absolutely loved flowers and warm weather. She was always the first to give and last to take. Always doing and thinking of those around her.

Gloria departed this life on January 8, 2026, at her home in McKeesport, PA. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul (Beaver) Mervis; parents, father, Joseph John Gesmond, mother, Emma Mae Kennedy Gesmond; sister, Georgia Parker, brother, Joseph John Gesmond, Jr., and her sweet dogs, Blue and Snowball.

She was the loving mother of John Joseph Gesmond of McKeesport, PA, and Angelica (Jesse) Holmes of Duquesne, PA. She was the proud and devoted grandmother of Tiara, Cianna, Shania, Jesse Jr., and Chance, and her first great-grandson, Alonzo.

She will be cherished in memories, by her beloved siblings, Thomas (Barbara) of Wexford, PA, Jerry (Sharon) Gesmond of Irwin, PA, Daniel (Nancy) Gesmond of North Versailles, PA, Anita (Chico) Hernandez of Glassport, PA, Joanna (David) Barron of Las Vegas, NV. She also had many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She will be truly missed.
