George Williams Obituary

George D. Williams, 73, of Clairton, PA., was born June 13, 1950, in McKeesport, PA. He was the son of the late Arthur and Katie Williams. George grew up in Clairton, Pennsylvania, and was affectionately known as ‘Georgie Block’ to family and friends.

George was a graduate of Clairton High School.  After High School, he attended a technical school where he received a certification in welding. He worked as a welder at National Tubes in McKeesport, PA. He recently retired from Carnegie Mellon after having over 25 years of service.

George was a dedicated lifetime member and vital servant of Mount Olive First Baptist Church in Clairton.  George was a faithful representative for Mt. Olive First Baptist Church at the Youghiogheny Western Baptist Association (YWBA). George was ordained as a deacon in 1999.  He was co-chairman of the deacon board.  George was a member of the usher board and male chorus. He served as the janitor for many years.  George was a praying deacon, he would visit the sick and shut-in to provide communion and words of encouragement.

George loved to travel!  He was an avid cruisegoer and loved to visit with his daughters and grandchildren in Texas!  He was also an avid bowler and was part of multiple bowling leagues in the Mon Valley area including Twilighters Bowling, Crying Eight, and Old Timers League.

George departed this life on April 11, 2024, at AHN Jefferson Hospital in Jefferson Hills, PA. He was preceded in death by his, parents, Arthur Williams, and Katie Robinson, brothers, Manning Williams, and Arthur Williams, and first wife Dorothy L Williams.

George is survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth Hillard Williams; two daughters; Donita Kim Kendrick, and Yolanda Turner, stepchildren; Nicole Hudson, and Elizabeth S. Hillard, grandchildren; Rashawd Hatten(Chevell), Justin Hatten, Demetrius Hatten, Jamie Turner, great-grandchildren; Carmelo Hatten, Ethan Hudson, Hailey Hudson, sister; Mary Linda Williams; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Matthew 11:28 – 30 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
