Ethel Paylor-Davis, born October 18, 1931, in Roxboro, North Carolina, was the cherished daughter of the late Harry C. and Ossie M. Bradsher Paylor. The fifth among a lively brood of ten – six sisters and four brothers – she was a beacon of warmth and wisdom.
On September 12, 2023, at 91, Ethel found serenity, passing away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones. A devoted member of the St. Joseph of the Pines senior services, her gentle nature endeared her to every nurse, doctor, and staff member.
In her youth, Ethel's faith led her to Mill Hill Baptist Church in Roxboro, where she was baptized. She furthered her education at the Person County Training School. As years went by, she relocated with family to Braddock, eventually settling in Rankin, PA. Here, she served her community through the local Post Office, taking on various roles and offering her time selflessly.
The world recognized Ethel's radiant spirit and ceaseless generosity. Her travels took her across various German cities, including Darmstadt and Frankfurt, with Paris holding a special place in her heart. Cruising was another delight, with adventures to the Caribbean islands and Mexico.
Professionally, Ethel showcased her caring nature as a licensed nurse's aide in the Braddock and McKeesport hospitals. Her innate ability to make everyone feel valued made her an embodiment of love.
In September 2023, as Ethel's health began its final chapter, she found comfort with her son Larry Paylor in Raeford, North Carolina. This was her home until she was called to join her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Ethel's journey to the eternal brought her closer to her beloved family who preceded her: parents, Harry and Ossie Paylor; sisters Hazel, Maggie, Sallie, and Ruth; brothers Harry and Albert, spouse Freddie Davis and children Harvey, Alfred, and Jeannette.
Her indomitable spirit lives on through her cherished family: daughters Jackie, Joyce, and Kristine; sons Larry, Tony, and Jimmy; 17 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren; siblings James Herbert and Alice; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were touched by her grace.
