Ethel Dora Caldwell of Clairton was 98 when she departed this life. Born on May 2, 1925 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, she was the beloved and first born child of the late Deacon David Sheridan and Dora Andrews Sheridan.
Ethel was a graduate of Clairton High School, and was employed as a Personal Care Assistant at Mercy Hospital, as she also gave nursing care to her daughter Debbie for many years. She was a life time member of Gethsemane Church of God in Christ where she was devoted to the choir, Young Women’s Christian Cpunsel, and Pastor’s Aide Committee. She loved to write poetry, and wrote a song entitled, “Our God Is!” She was an avid conversationalist. She loved to laugh and make YOU laugh. We always had a good time when she was in the room.
Ethel married her high school sweetheart, the late Welton Caldwell Sr. From this union was born 4 children, Welton Jr., Gordon (Ben Gershom), Dwight, and Deborah. She was preceded in death by her son, Welton Jr. , her daughter, Deborah, granddaughter Yashevyah, both parents, siblings Richard Sheridan, David Sheridan, and Vauline Sheridan Broadie. Ethel leaves to cherish her memory 2 sons, Gordon (Heviyah) Ben Gershoml of Israel and Dwight Caldwell of Southwestern Nursing Center, grandsons, David Caldwell of Pittsburgh, Justin Cottingham of McKees Rocks, Nachmiel, Yashron, and Avigdor Ben Gershom of Israel, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ethel was the last survivor of all the siblings and cousins in her generation. She will be sadly missed.
