Elizabeth Johnson Obituary

Elizabeth (Womack) “Liz” Johnson, born May 31, 1947, entered her heavenly home, April 15, 2023. She was preceded in death by her loving parents Lydia (Richards) and Walter Lee Womack, adored brother Walter E. Womack, beloved daughter, Tiffany Nicole Johnson, and endeared nephew Marvin Womack.

Liz was raised in Rankin, PA and in 1998 moved to McKeesport where she was an active member of the community. In September of 2012 Liz began a thirty-year career at General Motors/Fisher Body BOC, where she worked in various positions, from janitorial, to fork lift driver, assembly line worker, to welder. Her greatest joy came when her skills were recognized and awarded with a promotion to Team Leader. After retiring from General Motors Liz decided to return to work and gained employment with the McKeesport Area School District as a Security Officer. She was a longstanding member of St. Paul AME Church and diligently served on the Missionary, Steward, Usher, and Trustee Boards, at various times throughout her membership. She also served as a nurse and on the hospitality committee. Liz loved to sing and expressed her love of gospel music by singing in the Ben Harris, Gospel, and Mass Choirs. She was an avid reader of the Bible and participated in various Bible Studies.

More than anything Liz enjoyed spending time with family and friends and always looked forward to the next cook out, birthday celebration, and all the traditional holidays. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, attending concerts, and eating out. Liz was especially fond of seafood and almost always ordered a shrimp selection from the menu. She looked forward to lunch dates with the girls as much as she looked forward to getting her praise on at “Ladies Night with Jesus” at Living Waters Church located in Braddock.

Liz leaves to cherish her memory loving sons, Terrance Johnson, James and wife Quincy Johnson, and beloved daughter, Holly Deakings. Cherished brother, Price Womack, grandchildren Derrick, Julian, Jamese, Jahraya, De’Vion, Serenity, DaNaya, Dontae Johnson, and Charles Coles. Greatgrandchildren, Julian, Jr., Jayce Mason, and soon to come baby boy Johnson, Kikki Boyd, GiGi Deakings. Nieces, Lynette Stewart and Lydia (Gerald) Woods. Nephews, Dion, Ryan, Kevin, and Walter Womack, Jr. In addition, a host of cousins and many, many friends.
