Edward P. Dudley Obituary

Edward P. Dudley, 87, of Duquesne, was born August 8, 1937, in McKeesport, PA. He was the beloved son of the late Walton and Hilda Christian Dudley.


 Edward was a graduate of McKeesport High School. He then enlisted in the United States Army, separating from the service with military achievements, honorable conditions, a good conduct medal, a sharpshooter badge (rifle), and a motor vehicle driver’s badge (wheel). 


 Edward went on to work for the United States Steel Mill, Duquesne Works, where he retired as a Foreman of 20 years. After retirement, he became a school bus driver for Laidlaw, then 1st Student until 2011, and retired from driving after 27 years. He was well known as the local neighborhood mechanic, who fixed many appliances, such as washers and dryers, just to name a few. 


 Edward was a member of the Duquesne Dukes Bowling League from 1960-2020. He enjoyed competing in the local bowling league with his team and winning many trophies during his season. Edward was an avid Steelers Fan.


 Payne Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church of Duquesne, Pennsylvania, was Edwards family church home. He attended Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with his wife Iris when he was able.


 Edward departed this life on June 2, 2025, at UPMC Magee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walton and Hilda Christian Dudley, daughter, Brenda (Dudley) Murray; great-grandson, Ciquann Dudley, Jr.; and sister, Helen McKissick.


 Edward is survived by his loving spouse of 38 years  Iris; daughter, Jerry D. (Dudley) Gordon; son, Edward Dudley, Jr., both of McKeesport, PA.; two stepsons, Carlos (Pam) J. Lennon, of Savannah GA., Greg (Rose) L. Vereen of Raleigh, NC.; 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchild; goddaughter, Chantelle McKissick, of Duquesne, PA,. sisters, Marlene Poindexter, of  McKeesport, PA., Kay Dudley, of  West Mifflin, PA.; two brothers-in-law, Donald W. Lennon and Craig Barlow, both of Duquesne, PA., nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
