Curtis Maurice Harper, Sr., 75, of White Oak, Pennsylvania was born August 21, 1947, in McKeesport. He was the beloved son to the late Charles and Vivian E. (Collins) Harper.
Curtis graduated from McKeesport High School. After which he was drafted into the United States Army. Curtis was formerly employed at Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory. He also worked with the Army Corps of Engineers. His last place of employment was at High Point University in North Carolina as a security guard. Curtis married Shirley Stinson and from this union, they had three children. After Shirley’s untimely death, Curtis later met and married Sara Childs; and from this union they had five children.
Curtis was a former Post Commander of the American Legion Post #666 of McKeesport, the Booker T. Washington Lodge #218 I.B.P.O.E. of W, the Pride of the West Lodge #84 F&M, and the Prince Hall Masonic Temple.
Curtis departed this life on April 8, 2023, at AHN Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, PA. He was preceded in death by his wives, Shirley Stinson-Harper and Sara Harper, brothers, John Harper, Sr. and Charles Harper Jr.
Curtis leaves to cherish in his memory eight children; four sons, Curtis M. (Lynnette McClinton) Harper, Jr., Bryant L. (Mahogany Preston) Harper, Sr., of McKeesport, PA; Shawne Harper of Murfreesboro, TN, Pierre Harper of Republic, PA; four daughters, Christine S. Harper (Demetrius Diggs) of McKeesport, PA, Shawnetta Harper of Charlotte, NC, Dy`naya Harper of Uniontown, PA, Ky`laya Harper of Pittsburgh, PA; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, three siblings; Ellen (Francis) Crosby, Thelma Underwood; and Andre Harper; and host of nieces, nephews and cousins, who loved him and will miss him dearly.
