Colin Maurice Killins, 56, of Clairton PA, was born October 29, 1965, in McKeesport, PA. He was the beloved son of the late Ernest Sterling and Lillian Killins, who affectionately dubbed him “CoCo” when he was a baby.
He graduated from Clairton High School. After graduation, Colin worked in several roles at Red Lobster over a 10-year period, followed by training to obtain a CDL and a variety of short-term positions. Most recently he worked as a security guard with both Security Service for 3 years and Clairton Education Center for the last 2 years.
CoCo was a true sports enthusiast and a die-hard Steelers fan! He played high school baseball as well as football until a shoulder injury; he later played baseball with the 88’s and participated in a bowling league. He enjoyed watching all sports – football, basketball, baseball, and hockey. CoCo loved music and was usually tuned to oldies but goodies, he played video games, loved discovering the latest gadgets, he enjoyed lifting weights and the calming effect of fishing. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children, from building a snow igloo in the yard following a snowstorm when they were children to taking them bowling and fishing as adults. He remained a kid at heart; so, it’s no surprise that this October baby’s favorite holiday was Halloween, and he enjoyed dressing in costume and visiting the scariest haunted houses.
Colin departed this life on January 7, 2022, at his home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Killins, father, Ernest Sterling, and grandmother Ruby Lee Major who raised him.
Colin is survived by his loving children; son, Colin Maurice Killins Jr. of Clairton, PA daughter, Chandler Rose Killins of West Mifflin, PA; previous wife, Kamille Bowman of West Mifflin, PA; beloved nieces Sharon Sterling and Robin Sterling; aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
