Christina Henrietta Dawkins Blackwell Howze was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Henry Dawkins and Anna Pearl Dawkins Jackson. She was also preceded in death by her sister Jacqueline Dawkins Carmichael.
Christina attended Clairton Schools and was a Clairton, PA resident for the majority of her life.
Christina was baptized at Mt. Olive First Baptist Church in 1948. A faithful and devoted member of Mt. Olive First Baptist Church she served in several ministries over her lifetime. She served on the Senior Usher Ministry, was a tutor for Mt. Olive’s Youth Village, and was the church clerk for many, many years.Her love for the Lord and His word led her to Harty Bible School of Pittsburgh, PA. With a servant’s heart she was a volunteer at Kane Nursing Home in Mckeesport, PA for many years.
She was a retired employee of the PA Department of Labor and Industry at the Mckeesport, PA Employment Office.
Her family was her heart and soul, along with her love for shopping.
Surviving are her son, Joel Blackwell, Jr.; 2 grandchildren, Peyton (Teresa)Blackwell and LaRae (Raymone) Clifford; 3 great grandchildren, Aerial Blackwell, Daycia Clifford, and Micah Blackwell; brother Frank (Lois) Dawkins; sister, Deborah Jackson and nephew Bryce Jackson whom she helped raise; a godson, Derek Price and several loving cousins and long time, loving, and caring friends.
