Cecil Barber, 78, of McKeesport was born August 29, 1942. He departed this life on Wednesday, February 24, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vera and Sanders Barber Sr., siblings, Ethel Martin, Lowanna Cash, Eugene and Sanders Barber Jr. His surviving siblings are: Susie (David) Brown of McKeesport, Gwendolyn Barber of McKeesport, Robert (Barbara) Barber of Glassport, Gloria (Gregory) Phelps of McKeesport, Sandy (Donald) Young of McKeesport, Juanita (Charles) Blair of West Mifflin, and Essie (Melvin) Crowe of Port Vue; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Cecil was from a large family that had so many enjoyable and loving memories. After graduating from McKeesport High School, he traveled to New York City to launch his dream...MUSIC! After releasing some hit records, he returned to do a show at the Civic Arena with Aretha Franklin. He then left for New York City to perform with other artists. After his musical career and after the death of his parents, he followed his second love from his mother which was cooking. He was employed at The Intersection, Inc., serving and cooking with Sisters Peg and Cathy, for people that were less fortunate. Cecil was a realist and will be forever in our hearts.
