Carrie Maxine Skaggs Obituary


Carrie Maxine (Beard) Skaggs, 78, of Clairton, Pennsylvania affectionately known as Maxine, was born March 20, 1945, in West Newton, Pennsylvania. She was the beloved daughter of the late Mac and Flora Butler Skaggs. 


Maxine was the matriarch of the family and continued to live her life in privacy while being able to care for others when needed. Her pride and joy were her children. She was spiritual and loved listening to her gospel and Motown Christmas music. She enjoyed watching soap operas, planting, and gardening. Maxine loved her grandchildren and spending time with them, cooking and baking.


Carrie departed this life on June 14, 2023, at home with her loved ones by her side. She was preceded in death by her father, Mac Skaggs, mother, Flora (Butler) Skaggs, sisters, Ruth Skaggs, and Ruby Fluker, and brother, Max Skaggs.   


Carrie is survived by her loving children; two daughters, Leanne (McKenzie) Neal, and Janeen Skaggs, both of Clairton, PA; son, Albert Skaggs; 3 grandchildren; Amber (Andre) Carr, Bishop Neal, and Shaniece Neal; 2 great-granddaughters; Dreya Carr and Sacret Neal; sisters; Elizabeth Skaggs, Marvella Skaggs, Donna Skaggs, and Dorthy Skaggs, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
