Carmen Johnson

Carmen Johnson, 57, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully in her sleep in Baltimore, Maryland on November 2, 2021.

Carmen was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Florence Johnson and Fred Jones, Jr. on January 19, 1964. She attended school in Clairton, Pennsylvania and graduated with the class of 1981. She met and married her late husband, Franchi Mitchell, in Clairton, Pennsylvania. Carmen ultimately left Clairton and settled in Richmond, Virginia. She worked in the restaurant and home healthcare industries for many years where she had the opportunity to do what she did best-spread her love and light to all those she encountered. Carmen was beloved by all of her family members, friends and was so blessed to spend her final days encircled in the unwavering love and support of Raina Smith and Tori Murrill. 

Carmen joins the ranks of her ancestors, including Florence Johnson (mother), Fred Jones, Jr. (father), Nellie Johnson (grandmother), Howard Johnson (grandfather), Rocky Johnson (uncle), William Johnson (uncle), Floyd Johnson (uncle) and Raymond Johnson (uncle), Larrin Jones (brother). She is mourned by her brother, Freddy Ramsey, Sr. of PA; her sister, Danielle Barnett of WV; her cousin co-raised as siblings, Vernon Simmons of WA; her aunt, Dr. Evaleen Johnson of PA; nieces; nephews; many cousins and a host of friends.

Memorials may be sent to Robert Waters Funeral Home. A sincere thanks is extended to the many people that expressed their love and support in any way for Carmen Johnson.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on November 12, 2021 at Round Hill Cemetery with Minister Debra Marshall of Morning Star Baptist officiating. Repast will follow at the CEDCC at 282 St. Clair Avenue, Clairton, PA 15025. Arrangements are entrusted to Robert A. Waters Funeral Home.
