Carl Drew Hamlin was born on July 23, 1948, in McKeesport, PA. He departed this life on August 12, 2025, at the age of 77. Drew Hamlin (as he was affectionately called by family) was preceded in death by his parents, Carl William Hamlin and Ethel Marie Grimball Hamlin. Drew was the oldest of four children. He attended Pittsburgh Public Schools and graduated from George Westinghouse High School.
Upon graduation, Drew enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C. He served as a member of the Presidential Honor Guard and Drill Team. After serving in the Air Force, Drew moved to the city of New York. While in New York, he married. Several years later, the married couple decided that the best course of action was to divorce.
Drew graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts from Fordham University. Later, he studied advertising and graphic design at, School of Visual Arts. Drew was employed by Wunderman Thompson Advertising, where he was a Production Assistant. A few years later, he was hired by Tatham, Laird, and Kudner Advertising as Assistant Production Manager. Some years later, Drew retired from RCA Records as a Senior Art Director. After retirement, Drew enjoyed traveling, listening to jazz music, and studying astronomy.
Drew was a loving brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He is survived by his loving family, brother Daryl (Janet) Hamlin of Pittsburgh, PA, sisters Dawn (Rolin) Hamlin McCombs of Akron, Ohio, Traci Hamlin of Monroeville, PA, Niece Arline Hamlin of Pittsburgh PA, Great Niece, Janett McCray of Pittsburgh, PA and a host of extended family, cousins and friends.
