Avonda Danielle Sims

Avonda “Sonni” Sims, 48, of Orangeburg, was born March 21, 1973, in El Paso, Texas. She was the beloved daughter of Jerry and Patricia Sims of Portsmouth, Virginia.

Sonni, as she was affectionately called, was a loving mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, watching the Steelers play and completing word searches. She made sure to cook a Sunday dinner. She was someone courageous, someone you could talk to and she gave the best advice.

Sonni departed this life on December 8, 2021 at MUSC, Charleston, SC. She was preceded in death by her sisters Bonita Hillman and Charmagne Sims. 

Sonni is survived by her loving parents Jerry and Patricia Sims of Portsmouth, VA; children; two sons, Ransaun Gustave of McKeesport, PA, Christopher Taylor of McKeesport, PA, one daughter, Tanayah Sims of McKeesport, PA; one granddaughter Gianna Gustave; two brothers, Joseph (Stacey) Sims, David (Jennifer) Sims; two sisters, Katrina (Tyrone) Barfield, Karin Sims Pittmon; nieces, nephews extended family and friends.
