Arthur C. (Charlie Boom) Long, Jr., 63, of Jefferson Hills, was born June 3, 1958, in Bad Kreuznach, Germany. He was the beloved son of Arthur and Willie Mae (Jones) Long. He was called home to be with The Lord on Saturday, November 6, 2021.

Boom grew up in Clairton where he attended school at Clairton City Schools from Kindergarten through Graduation in 1976. While in High School Boom played football for the Clairton Bears and was a member of the track team. After graduation Boom worked summers at US Steel Clairton Coke Works while also working as a Security Guard at the Newly Opened Century Three Mall in West Mifflin, PA. Boom attended The University of Pittsburgh from August of 1976 through the end of 1979 with the intention of becoming a Dentist when the realities of life took a hold and he had to leave school and enter the workforce full time. Arthur worked as an Office Worker and worked his way up to Manager at Bell of Pennsylvania (Verizon).

Arthur was an avid sports enthusiast especially following his Beloved Clairton Bears, The Pittsburgh Panthers and the 6 Time Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a regular fixture at Bear football games sitting in the Luxury Boxes at Clairton Stadium throughout the years. He was always at Bear practices and games with his grandson Elliot teaching him the game he loved. He vigorously followed the Pitt Panthers both on the gridiron and the hardcourt. He was a Huge Pittsburgh Steeler fan attending training camp several summers. Boom regularly took his younger brothers to Pitt games, training camp and other sporting events around the Tri-State Area. He enjoyed being a Big Brother thoroughly, while working at Clairton Coke Works he used to give his younger siblings a weekly allowance. He was also famous for taking his younger nephews, cousins and neighborhood kids to different sporting events around the Tri-State area to help foster a love of sports as they grew up. Prior to becoming ill Boom would regularly travel with family and friends to Jazz festivals and other musical events.
