Ann Favors Obituary

Ann Louisa (Wilds) Favors was born on April 2, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA.  She was the oldest of three children to the late Booker T. Wilds Sr. and Launa (Hodge) Wilds.  In her early days she could be found on her stomping grounds on the Hill District.  She attended Schenley High School and enjoyed reuniting with her classmates at the annual Bobcats Affair.

Ann was united in marriage to Embry Favors Sr. on April 14, 1956.  Embry & Ann were married for 42 years and together they raised five children: Debra, Wendell, Cynthia, Carolyn and Embry Jr.

Ann was educated and employed by the Pittsburgh Public School System.  She served and cared for the students and faculty of Burgwin Elementary School for 23 years.  In her past time she enjoyed designing, setting up events, sewing, and making all things beautiful.  She was a fashionista, Ann loved to shop at our local Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Roses department stores in search of the most fabulous things.

She was a mother figure with “Motherwit” and a pillar in the Glenwood, and Glen Hazel communities.  She gave from her heart, her soul, and of her spirit.  She was kind, always upbeat and positive.  She had the most infectious laugh and down to earth personality.  She would tell it like it is…in the sweetest way.  She loved her family unconditionally and was a great provider.  Ann was a very classy, God fearing women with a message from the Lord “Be sure to take GOD with you EVERYWHERE you go, baby!”

Ann was ushered into the presence of the Lord on August 18, 2020 at home while surrounded by her children.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Embry Favors Sr, sister Lelanie Jean Henry (James), son Wendell Favors, daughters Debra Patterson, Cynthia Favors-East, and grandson Jermaine McDavis.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Booker T. Wilds Jr (Brother), children, Carolyn McDavis (Daryl) and Embry Favors Jr.  Grandchildren, Chaquila Thompson-King (Frank) Chaquaila Wilson-White (Jay) Monique Eyvette, Mary McDavis, Mecca Chaffin, Kimberly Rush (Maurice), and Bobby East.  Great Grandchildren, Terrence (TJ), Shawndale, Malaya, Sierra, Jakari, Zya, Zuri, Lorenzo (LJ), Kimora, Neil Jr., Eli, James Jr. (JJ) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, God children, and longtime friends.  She is loved and will truly be missed.
