Alma Doris (Keys) Jackson Obituary

ALMA DORIS JACKSON, affectionately known as Doris, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024, at AHN Jefferson Hospital, Jefferson, PA. Doris was born on February 16, 1955, in Greenwood, Mississippi. She was the beloved daughter of Nellie Neal Travis and the late Jackson C. Neal.

Doris spent most of her youth with her namesake and beloved late grandmother, Alma Irene Keys in Greenwood, Mississippi. Doris met and married the late Leroy Lucas, Jr., and they relocated to Detroit, Michigan.

Doris and Leroy Lucas were blessed with a beautiful baby girl. Named after her grandmother, Doris named her daughter, Alma Florence. Continuing the beautiful tradition, Alma Florence named her daughter Alma Rose, epitomizing their loving bond. Doris later met and married James Jackson and relocated to McKeesport, Pennsylvania.

Doris loved to work with children. She worked for Louise Child Care in McKeesport for several years. She would later become Director of the Walnut Grove Christian Day Care.

Doris touched the lives of many families and developed long-lasting friendships. Her caring heart extended beyond her family and work. She touched the lives of many people who lovingly called her Big Mama, Mama Alma, or just Mom.

Doris joined Mt. Olive First Baptist Church in Clairton, PA. under the leadership of the late Rev. William C. Callaway. She enjoyed fellowship with her church family and was always willing to lend a helping hand and support the church ministry. Doris was a faithful and dedicated member of Mt. Olive First Baptist Church and served on the usher ministry. She became a deaconess in 1990 and was the vice-president of the Deaconess Ministry at the time of her passing.

Doris loved and cherished spending time with her mother, her daughter, and especially her granddaughter, Alma Rose who was her pride and joy! There was nothing she would not do for them because family was everything to her. Doris also enjoyed spending quality time with her special friend, Bennie Coleman, his daughter, Tina Coleman, his granddaughter, Chantell Coleman, and his grandson, Jashawn Coleman all from Jersey City, NJ.
