September 23, 1948 ~ November 23, 2021 (age 73)

Obituary

Alan H White, 73 of Duquesne, was born September 23, 1948, in Mckeesport, PA. He was the beloved son of the late John Masey and Rose Lee (Bowman) White.
Alan attended Duquesne Senior High School, then furthered his education at The Art Institute and La Roche University where he earned his MBA (Master of Business Administration). Mr. White then served in the US Army for several years and was stationed in Germany. After returning to Pennsylvania, he joined the Army Reserves as he worked for US Steel. After the plant closed, he moved to Connecticut to train to become an Environmental Manager and was then placed at the VA Hospital in St. Louis to carry out this position for 8 years. He and his wife then moved back to Pennsylvania where he continued working at the VA Hospital in Aspinwall until he retired. He was loved by all he worked with.

Anyone who knew Alan would describe him as a die-hard Steeler fan -- his enthusiastic commentary could be heard from a mile away. Aside from watching every game, he enjoyed spending his free time playing tennis, chess, and exercising the skills he acquired at The Art Institute to create beautiful paintings and drawings. A well-known piece of his was an exquisite painting on black velvet of the street he raised his family on.

Alan departed this life on November 23, 2021, at Eldercrest Nursing and Rehab Center in Munhall. PA. He now joins his son Brock White, and brother, Clayton White along with several other loved ones who have passed.

Mr. White is survived by Florence (Naomi) White, his loving spouse of 54 years; Lamont & Arlene White, his son, and daughter-in-law; Chawning C. White-Jones, his only daughter; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family; and friends.
As a man of many talents; a hard worker; and a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend; Alan White will be dearly missed by all he has positively impacted during his 73 years on this earth. When asked to describe him in a few words, his wife responded with four simple, yet perennial words: “love of my life”.
