Wendy Lee Rice

She Lived…

Wendy Lee Rice was born August 18, 1955 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to Gladys Kirkland Ramsey and the late Reverend Leroy Ramsey. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Stacy Nicole Rice; granddaughter, Ju’Leeann Rice; sister, Deborah Lewis; and nephew, Kirk Lewis. Wendy fought a good fight and finished her course, she transitioned to eternal life on Tuesday, July 17, 2018.

  She Learned…

Wendy was raised in Blythedale, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Elizabeth Forward High School. She continued her education by attending Duff’s Business School. Shortly thereafter, she was employed by the Allegheny Intermediate Unit (AIU) in Clairton, Pennsylvania working as a Family Advocate for the Head Start Program.

 She Loved…

Wendy was married to Raymond Rice, Sr. for 43 years. To this union, four children were born. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. No words can really describe the type of grandmother she was. The one thing anyone that knew Wendy would say, is that she loved her grandchildren.Wendy was family oriented; there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for her children, even more so for her grandchildren. She cared and supported them in all their endeavors.

 She Served…

Talk about unwavering faith, Wendy knew and loved the Lord. She was baptized at the age of ten by the late Reverend Booker T. Hill. She was a lifetime member at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Blythedale, Pennsylvania; her one and only church. Here, she served as Deaconess, Treasurer and Secretary, along with teaching Sunday School. Her service didn’t stop there. Wendy was the former President of Elizabeth Forward’s School Board. She started the PTA at Elizabeth Forward’s Middle School. She was Vice President of Mount Vernon’s PTO. She even taught for the Jerome Stevenson Bible School at Morning Star Baptist Church in Clairton, Pennsylvania.

 She Lives On…

Wendy leaves to carry on her legacy of love and faith: her husband, Raymond Rice, Sr.; mother, Gladys Kirkland Ramsey; three children, Raymond (Latisha) Rice, Jr., Tisha Rice, Ashley Rice; sister, Sharon (Michael) Gressem; brother, Duane (Brenda) Ramsey; brother-in-law, Lamont Lewis; eight grandchildren, Kaylee, Kaylah, Aleea, Raymond III, Ronald, Dayron, Ti’ray, Dayonna, many relatives, long time friends (The Pack) who became her extended family. Survivors also include Kim Drake and Paula Wortham who were raised in her parents home.
