Shirley Singleton Lattimore, 88, of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, departed this life on Sunday, February 24, 2019 in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
She was born December 1, 1930 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Jeremiah and Queen “Queenie” Jones Singleton.
Shirley, was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Dental School, where she was the first African American female student and first African American female to graduate as a Dental Hygienist. She continued her career as a Dental Hygienist for Dr. Melvin Stockton.
Survivors include her brother, Jerry (Diane) Singleton of McKeesport; four grandchildren, Dennis (Janita) Robinson of McKeesport, Enrico Patterson of Pittsburgh, Sharmiece (Clarence) Grisham of Tennessee, Danesha (Jerry) Jordan of Phoenix, Arizona; twelve great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of loving friends.
Friends will be received on Saturday from 9-11 a.m. in Bethlehem Baptist Church, 716 Walnut Street, McKeesport, Pennsylvania, where service will begin at 11:00 with Rev. Earlene Coleman officiating.
Interment will follow in the Jefferson Memorial Park, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
