Richard J. Price, Sr. was born on February 26, 1931 in Clairton, PA. He was the son of the late Herbert Price, Sr. and Lucille Taylor Price; however, he was reared by his grandmother the late Annetta Taylor.

Richard attended and graduated Clairton High school, then joined the United States Army and served his country honorably during the Korean Era, receiving two bronze medals. Shortly after, he married the love of his life, Billie A. Meade, they were happily married for over 60 years.  Richard was employed and retired from United States Steel Clairton Works as a foreman, in 1983.  He was an avid football and basketball fan, who loved those Clairton Bears, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Richard exercised daily while listening to his music.  He always wanted the newest technology, he loved television and DVR’d everything.

God gave him the strength to rule with his wisdom.  Richard joined Morning Star Baptist Church on January 7, 1940, under the leadership of the late Reverend I.H. McElroy, serving God and his church well for over seventy-nine years.  Observing his dedication and faithfulness, he was appointed to the Trustee Board on February 28, 1969, under the leadership of the late Reverend William Nathan Simon.  Richard was a member of the Men’s Sunday School Class and Inspirational Choir.

Richard loved to sing and shared his base tone voice joining God’s Special Edition. He was a founding member of the MSBC Credit Union, and St. Joseph Lodge #9 where he received the 32nd degree Masonry.  Richard also shared his time and expertise with Eastman Chemical Company and Clairton Municipal Authority Advisor Boards.
