Mildred K. Burgwin

Mildred K.  Burgwin, 71, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, departed this life on Tuesday, July 19, 2018, in Magee Women’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

She was born February 3, 1947, in Homestead, PA, daughter of the late Thomas S. Mickney and Mildred C. Burgwin.  She was also preceded in death by her dad, Russell Doggett, son, Sean D. L. Murphy, brother, Edward C. Burgwin, granddaughter, Marquie Taylor, and grandson Mahlik Cash Murphy.

Mildred was a member of Petra International Ministries.  She graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School in 1962.  She went on to pursue her education at the International Culinary Academy of Pittsburgh, where she earned her Associates degree in Specialized Technology.  She continued on as a Chef Assistant at the University of Pittsburgh, Gullifty's of Squirrel Hill, and at the Top of the Triangle of Pittsburgh.  She also worked as a Nurse's Assistant at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and at US Steel McKeesport.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Joy Renee Burgwin of McKeesport; seven grandchildren, Phalan, Latasha, James, JaQuan, Lundyn, Breawna, Sean, and Maziya, ten great-grandchildren, Alonna, Eugene, Aaron, Edward, James, Truly, Sean, Nyelle, Hayden, and Loyalty; sister, Mabel I. Doggett-Jones of North Versailles; brother, Samuel L. Burgwin of Jefferson Boro, and half-sister, Linda Bursey of Braddock; two spiritual daughters, Erica Payne and April Myers and a host of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Friday, July 27, 2018, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the at the Robert A. Waters Funeral Home, Inc., 2326 Jenny Lind Street, McKeesport, Pennsylvania. Services will be held at Petra International Ministries, 235 Eastgate Drive, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 28, 2018, at 11:00 am with Bishop Donald Clay officiating.

Entombment will follow in the McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery, McKeesport, Pennsylvania.
