Mazie L. (Devine) Mclean

Mazie McLean, 87, of McKeesport, was born April 23, 1934, in Holly Hill, SC. She was the beloved daughter to the late Mervin Sr. and Eva (Clark) Devine.

Mazie graduated from Robert High School in Holly Hill, SC. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Washington, DC to obtain employment. On February 17, 1956, she married the love of her life, Ernest L. McLean. She was a homemaker who took care of her family.  Mazie lived in McKeesport, Pennsylvania.

Mazie was an exceptional wife and mother. As a stay-at-home mom, she was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her seven children. Despite her large family, Mazie always made time for everyone. She freely offered wisdom, strength, support, and love to both family and friends. As a mother, she instilled strong values in her children and gave rebuke and correction when they strayed from those values. Mazie was a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she participated in the Missionary Union.  She also loved to garden and sew.

During her lifetime, she battled a number of illnesses, but always retained her strength, strong will, and desire to fight until the end. Although Mazie has left this earth, the impression she left on the lives of others will never be forgotten. She will be missed more than words can describe.

Mazie departed this life on March 22, 2022, at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her father, Mervin Devine, Sr., mother, Eva (Clark) Devine; son, Sidney McLean;  three brothers, Mervin Devine, Jr., Johnnie Devine, and Daniel Devine; two sisters, Rachel Hartridge and Ernestine McNeill.  

Mazie is survived by her loving children; three daughters, Mearl Devine, Geraldine Williams (Darrell), Darlene Walker (James); three sons, James McLean, Jerome McLean (Tonya), Robert McLean (Jan); two sisters, Beneva Lambright and Cora Devine; two brothers, Stephen Devine and Nathaniel Devine; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Devine and Hazel Devine; two brothers-in-law, Michael McNeill and Robert Hartridge; nieces, nephews, twenty-seven grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
