Lyvonne Battle Obituary

Lyvonne Lynette Battle, affectionately known as LaLa by her family and friends, age 44, of Lawrenceville, GA, returned to her heavenly home on November 18, 2018, after a valiant battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) also known as Lou Gehrig Disease. Lyvonne’s devotion to her family and friends as well as her firm belief in God supported and sustained her during the struggle that ultimately called her home.

Lyvonne was born to Ronald and Brenda Battle, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on February 5th, 1974. She was a 1992 graduate of McKeesport High School.  In December 1998, she graduated from Edinboro University with a bachelor’s degree in Education.  In August 2001, she earned a master’s degree in Business Administration from American InterContinental University.  After working in the business sector for 10 years, and coaching girls’ basketball for 3 years for Brookwood Basketball Association, the passion to work with the youth resonated again, spurring her to return to college one final time.  She was inducted into Chi Sigma Iota International Honor Society in April 2014 and In May 2015, Lyvonne obtained a master’s degree in School Counseling from Clark Atlanta University. When employment was scarce, Delmock Technologies Incorporated, headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, created a position that allowed her to work remotely. She is forever grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Demlock family.

Lyvonne was blessed and had support from family and friends from all parts of the world. She resided in Lawrenceville, Georgia where she was an active member of the Gwinnett County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.  In her spare time, she was an active resident in her community at Fairview Station Walk, where she started the neighborhood watch program, and hosted community gatherings. She also served as a mentor at Meadowcreek High School for students who were English as a second Language Learners.

Lyvonne was preceded in death by her loving Mother Brenda Battle.  She is survived by her devoted   Father, Ronald Battle of McKeesport and her devoted Sister, Rhonda Battle of Baltimore, Maryland.  She leaves to Cherish her Memory, Godson Kwienton Gregory of McKeesport, Goddaughters, Zia Frith of Erie, Lyeisha Gregory and Chelsea McClung both of McKeesport; Aunts Carol Heller, of North Versailles, Helen Brown, of McKeesport, Evelyn Houston, of Clairton, Pam Battle Burgwin of West Mifflin; Uncles Oliver “Olie” of Steinenbronn, Germany, Henry of Duquesne, Anthony Hines, of Clairton; as well as a host of loving cousins, friends, and sorority sisters.
