Lance Sterling Simpkins, 55, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at home.
He was born April 24, 1962 in Jersey City, NJ, son of Sarah E. Franklin of McKeesport and the late Howard Cox
He was a proud United States Navy Veteran, who had also worked as an Associate at Home Depot, a Computer Lab Technician at Community College of Allegheny County, a Medical Records Clerk for Office Team, a Ticket Agent for the Greyhound Travel Line, a Teller at PNC Bank, and a Clerk for Allegheny County Family Services Division Clerk.
Lance knew the importance of education and believed in self-improvement! He was pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Information Science at The University of Phoenix and working towards his Accounting degree at the Community College of Allegheny County. He had graduated from Duff’s Business Institute, where he had made the Dean’s List, with a degree in Medical Insurance Billing and Coding, Bidwell Job Training Center with a degree in Computer Operations and graduated from St. John’s School of Business in Springfield, Massachusetts with his Accounting Clerk Diploma. Lance was a true “people person”. In all of his employment he loved the Accounting and Customer Service aspects.
Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Sarah E. Franklin of McKeesport; three sisters, Simone Simpkins of McKeesport, Monere (Hans) Wanner of Cologne, Germany, and LaChan Russell; nephews, Chance and Trevor, host of cousins, and many, many loving friends.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the at the Robert A. Waters Funeral Home, Inc. 2326 Jenny Lind Street, McKeesport, Pennsylvania. Services will be held on Wednesday in Zion Baptist Church, 1300 Locust Street, McKeesport, Pennsylvania with Rev. Richard Truss officiating.
