Jonnie Washington

Jonnie Washington, Sr. Was born on January 24, 1951 in McKeesport, PA to the late Wilson Sr. and Inez Washington.  He was the third child of seven siblings.  Jonnie began his education at Shaw Elementary School and graduated from Clairton High School in June of 1967.  He still holds track and field records at Clairton High to this day.

Jonnie resided and worked in Clairton where he used his crafty skills in various jobs in auto repair, plumbing, construction, and electrical engineering.  In the 1970’s he left Clairton and went on to live in a several other states, before returning home a couple of years ago.  Jonnie was loved by many for his jokes and his great sense of humor.  His failing health resulted in his move to Jefferson Hills Manor, where the Lord called him to his heavenly home on December 28, 2017.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories six children, Jonnie (Michelle) Washington, Jr. of Gary, IN, Derrick Hampton of Green County, PA, one daughter, Reema Weatherspoon of Pittsburgh, PA, Terrill Weatherspoon, Sr. of West Mifflin, PA, Rodrick Washington and William Washington of Tallahassee, FL.

Jonnie was preceded in death by his brother Wilson Washington, Jr, and will be sorely missed by his other siblings, three sisters: Jeannette Washington Buckman of Bronx, NY, Cheryl Lindsay Washington of West Mifflin, PA and Kimberly Washington Burnett of Duluth, GA; two brothers, Williams C. (Deborah) Lindsay of Detroit, MI and Lindsay Ray Washington of Atlanta, GA.  He also leaves to mourn nineteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, five nieces, seven nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Two lifetime friends, Arthur Young and Joseph “Buzzy” Snow will cherish their memories with him as well.

Friends will be received Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Robert A. Waters Funeral Home, Inc., 2326 Jenny Lind Street, McKeesport, Pennsylvania, where services will begin at 12:00 p.m.

Interment will be private.
