John R. "Buckey" Puryear, Jr.

John R. "Buckey" Puryear, Jr., 84, of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, formerly of Clairton, departed this Earthly life on Thursday, March 28, 2019, in UPMC McKeesport Hospital.

He was born August 17, 1934, in Jefferson Borough, son of the late John R., Sr. and Ida Mae Smith Puryear.  He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Grace Rosser, Blanche Puryear, Hattie Jones, Myrtle Foreman, Irene Thomas, and Mary Jane Brown.

John was a former member of Quinn Chapel A.M.E. and current member of First African Methodist Episcopal Church in Clairton.  John had retired from United States Steel Clairton Works.

Survivors include his children, Charles Young of Orlando, Florida, Carmen Young of Killeen, Texas, and Juwan Young of McKeesport; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sisters, Marva Roach of Clairton and Matilda Ranson of Elizabeth, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Friends will be received on Monday, April 1, 2019, from 4-8 p.m. in the First African Methodist Episcopal Church, 177 Mitchell Avenue, Clairton, Pennsylvania, where services will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will follow in the Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth, Pennsylvania.
