James Butler Obituary

James Lamont Butler “Jimmy, Uncle Jimmy, Jim, JB, Butly, Tiger, Cricket”, 57, departed this life on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, in Duquesne, Pennsylvania. He was born on December 5, 1963, in McKeesport, PA to the late James D. Butler and Marlene Wooten Butler and also affectionately raised by his Aunt Rosia Reid and Uncle the late Howard J. Reid.

James graduated from Duquesne Senior High School. He continued his education at California State University of Pennsylvania where he studied political science & communications. He loved sports, especially the Duquesne Dukes. He loved bragging about the time he spent playing football as a Duke. He was a big flirt. He loved people.  He had a big heart and never met a stranger.  He always greeted you with that big bright smile.  He was well-loved by his friends and family. He was the epitome of love.  He made us all feel special and loved.

James is survived by his daughter Crystal Murriell of Atlanta, GA his siblings, Candice L. Butler of Duquesne, PA, Chelsea (Kenneth) Knutsen of Raleigh, NC., Dalena Simon of Penn Hills, PA, Howard Reid, of West Mifflin, PA, Mecca Reid and Madan Reid of Duquesne, PA Byanca Butler of Wilkins Township, PA, Tawana Bray, Starshema Bray, and Raphael Bray, all of McKeesport, PA; Aunts, Connie (Tyrone) Kemp and Rosia Reid of Duquesne, PA, Regina Yuille and Uncle Lamont (Sherlyn) Butler of McKeesport, PA,  Stephanie (Franklin) Chesney of NC, special friends, Marvin Davis and Lamont White; many other special friends, too many to mention, and a host of nieces and nephews, family, and friends. He had a special relationship with his nieces Lashawna Butler of Penn Hills, PA, Kiesha Prysock of Los Angeles, CA, Janell Prysosck of White Oak, PA, and Ulrie Madden of Duquesne, PA and will be truly missed.
