Gloria Dean (Barber) Phelps

On Thursday, February 29, 2024, Gloria (Goey) Dean Phelps, 75, of McKeesport and the beloved daughter of the late Sanders and Vera Carter Barber Sr., peacefully departed from her earthly home to her heavenly mansion to be with her Lord and Savior.

She began her journey on this earth on April 11, 1948, in Albany, Georgia. She was a young girl when her family relocated to McKeesport, PA. She attended McKeesport Area High School, where she met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Greg. Goey, as she was affectionately referred to, was a devoted wife of 55 years. She was a loving mother to her children, a caring grandmother to her grandchildren, and a genuine loving friend.

She is preceded in death by her late husband, Samuel G. Phelps III, siblings; Eugene Barber, LeJune Barber, Cecil Barber, Lawanna Cash Barber, and Ethel Barber Martin.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children; Vera Phelps, Samuel (Tasha) Phelps Jr. both of McKeesport; Derrick (Tiara) Phelps of White Oak; Brandi (Amexem) Phelps of Glassport; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; siblings; Susie Brown of McKeesport; Robert Barber of Glassport; Gwendolyn Barber of McKeesport; Sandra Young of McKeesport; Juanita Blaire of Homestead; Essie Crowe of Port Vue, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends
