Genevieve A. Broome Lewis, 100, of Clairton, Pennsylvania, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at home surrounded by her family.
She was born December 17, 1918, in Cumberland, MD, daughter of the late William and Jessie Jones Broome. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Clenard E. Lewis, Sr., son, Charles Lewis, siblings, Jake, Diane, Mary, Buster, Ben, and Helen, grandson, Kirk Lewis
Genevieve was a member of First A.M.E Church of Clairton and an integral contributor of the Clairton community; She had served as a Girl Scout Leader, a Brownie Leader, and a Cub Scout Leader. During the War, she worked at United States Steels works, but was also a Locker Room Aide at the Clairton High School and a Crossing Guard on Maple Avenue.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Clenard E. (Elaine) Lewis, Jr., Emanuel Lewis, Victoria Lewis-Brown and Lamont A. Lewis all of Clairton; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and five great, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and many others who claimed Ms. Genevieve as their own.
Interment will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth, Pennsylvania.
