Elzie Charles Washington

Elzie Charles Washington, 62, of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, departed this life Wednesday, October 4, 2017 in UPMC McKeesport Hospital.

He was born December 25, 1954 in Albany, GA, son of Annie Vessitte Griffin Washington Freeman of Homestead and Elzie Washington of Largo, FL.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Calvin Washington and his sister Rose Conyers.

He was formerly employed at US Steel Clairton Works in the Coking Department as well as a Machine Operator for Easter Seals. He also attended Pennsylvania State University.

Surviving are parents, Annie Vessitte Griffin Washington Freeman of Homestead and Elzie Washington of Largo, FL and; three daughters, Chyna Broomfield of McKeesport, Malayzia and Koreya Washington and their mother, Kwame Broomfield all of Pittsburgh; a son,  Elzie Charles Washington, Jr. and his mother, LaToya Bentley both of West Mifflin; one grandson, Zachary Vogtsberger, Jr of Pittsburgh; siblings, James Leon Washington of Duquesne, Allen J. (Sharon) Freeman, Jr. of Duquesne, Melvin Lee Freeman and  Robert Edward (Donella) Freeman all of McKeesport, Martha Ann Carter of West Mifflin, Stacie Lynn Freeman of Duquesne, Evelyn Lavern (Scott) Hill of McKeesport, Dianne (Craig) Freeman-Rhodes of West Mifflin, Carolyn Lynette Freeman of Homestead, Arthur Whatley and Linda Denson both of St. Petersburg, FL, Elzie Washington, JR of Bronx, NY, Billy Joe Washington of Pinellas Park, FL, Steven Washington of Albany, GA, Samuel Washington of Tampa, FL, and Robert Washington of Maryland; Clarence Coleman, Jr. of McKeesport and Etius Coleman of FL, both whom he reared, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Friends will be received Sunday from 4:00- 8:00 pm in Macedonia Baptist Church, 17 Cochran Street, Duquesne, Pennsylvania, where services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am with Rev. Archie D. Perrin, Jr. officiating.

Interment will follow in the McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery, McKeesport, Pennsylvania.
