Betty Millicent Smith

Betty Smith, 63, of Clairton, was born on October 4, 1956, to the late Anne Conover (Gallop) in Greensboro, NC. Betty passed away on July 18, 2020, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. She was also preceded in death by her husband Thomas Smith Jr, mother and father Delma and Edmund Saunders, Anne Conover, aunt and uncle Hazel and Floyd Spellman, mother in law Willie Dean Smith, father in law Thomas Smith Sr, sister in law Emma Smith.

Betty graduated from Clairton High school. Before developing a career as a certified nursing assistant she worked in the Clairton Steel Mill. She moved to Frederick, Maryland where she started her CNA career at Beverly manor nursing home.  She worked as a CNA for Superior home health before she retired. She married Thomas Smith Jr on October 31, 1987, and to this union, daughter Zenaida Smith was birthed.

Betty loved being around family and helping others. She loved doing word searches and playing bingo. She was a member of Mt. Olive First Baptist Church. She served on various ministries, to include the choir.

Betty is survived by her son, Maurice  Saunders of McKeesport, PA; daughter, Zenaida Swanson of Clairton, PA; stepson, Donta Floyd of Uniontown, PA; granddaughter, Eva Saunders of McKeesport PA; grandson, DeMauri Saunders of West Mifflin; host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
